It is likely that there are many footwear fans willing to pay a little bit more to get their perfect pair of shoes.

However, it seems as though one enthusiast may have been extra keen to buy a pair of Nike trainers as they paid $4,000 (£2,587) for them.

According to Crave on CNET News, the eager trainer fan purchased the customised pair of Xbox Nike Dunks from online auction site eBay.

The trainers, which are not an official collaboration but a one-off pair, have fibre optic writing on then which glows in the shape of the Xbox symbol, powered by a battery in the tongue.

Predominantly black and luminous green in colour, they also have a painted tiger camouflage pattern on the front.

Nike offers its customers the chance to customise their own pair of trainers using its Nike iD studio.
